Be the Best You Can Be
Mibbinbah’s ‘Be the best you Can Be’ program is an innovative health program that draws on the Australian feature film Mad Bastards to address racism, trans-generational trauma, and loss of culture, identity and land that lie behind issues of over-incarceration, violence and alcohol abuse in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Through nearly 150 programs, community screenings and presentations delivered across the country, the message of Mibbinbah’s ‘Be the Best You Can Be’ program has reached thousands of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander males, females, and non-Indigenous people. Their feedback overwhelmingly tells us that the program inspires change by identifying issues, strengthening sense of self and relationships and offers hope.
Mibbinbah’s Be the Best You Can Be Program is safe, non-confrontational, enjoyable and able to work at multiple levels – individual, family and community. It builds the capacity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to be strong in themselves, leaders for their community, and encourages ongoing brother and sister care at a grassroots level. These benefits have the potential for a positive impact across generations.
