Mad Bastards Helping Indigenous Men – Cherbourg

South Burnett Times, Kingaroy QLD – 14 Jun 2013

A WORKSHOP addressing the issues faced by indigenous men is coming to Cherbourg.
The free two-day Mad Bastards program was inspired by the award-winning film of the same name.
Barambah Health Centre’s James Bond said like the movie the workshop would cover a number of issues facing indigenous men.
“The movie looks at incarceration, health, violence and alcohol abuse,” he said.
“It looks at the relationship of indigenous men and the challenges they have with their families.
“It will help our own men in the community understand that they are an important key role in their families, especially in relation to their children and security.”
Mr Bond said the workshop would start with a viewing of Mad Bastards.
“After watching it we’ll have a discussion about it and see if these are issues that exist in our community and if there are others,” he said.
The workshop will run fromJune30–July1at the Barambah Health Centre.
For information phone 4169 8600.
Mr Bond encouraged anyone who needs to talk about social or wellbeing issues to come have a chat with him at the Barambah Health Centre.
